A cigar lounge
in Downtown Bryan.

West End Elixir Co. is a cocktail and whisky bar with a dedicated 21-and-up cigar lounge and a walk-in humidor, at 107 S Main Street in Historic Downtown Bryan, TX. A room at the back of the bar, leather chairs, member lockers along the wall, and a hundred whiskies and a hundred cocktails on the bar side to drink with whatever you light. About ten minutes by car from the Texas A&M campus and Kyle Field.

The room.

At the back of the bar

The lounge sits at the back of the bar, its own room behind the cocktail floor. The walk-in humidor is glass-fronted, stocked with a rotating set the staff picks by hand. Leather chairs, low tables, and a row of member lockers down the back wall where regulars keep their own bottles and cigars. It runs dark and low, the kind of room built to sit in for a while rather than pass through.

Entry is 21-and-up, carded at the door, in line with the federal Tobacco 21 rule that has set the age for tobacco nationwide since 2019. Walk in, ask at the bar, and a bartender will take you through the humidor if you want the help.

What's on the wall.

Connecticut to Maduro

The humidor rotates as we restock. We keep wrappers from mild Connecticut through medium Habano to full Maduro, so the wall works for a first cigar and for someone who has been at it for years, out of the same humidor. Prices vary by stick. Ask if you want a sense of the range before you choose.

Bring your own or buy from the wall. Members keep their own cigars in lockers. Walk-in guests pick from the humidor. There is no test at the door. If you have never chosen a cigar, the long version, wrapper by wrapper, plus how to cut and light one, is in the field guide: Where to smoke a cigar in Bryan, Texas.

You don't need to bring your own. You don't need to be a member.

The difference

Most cigar rooms in a college town are tobacco shops first. You buy a cigar, you sit in a back room, and the drink is bring-your-own or nothing. This is the other kind. West End Elixir is a full bar with a cigar lounge inside it, not a cigar shop with chairs.

That means a hundred whiskies on the shelf and a hundred cocktails on the menu to drink with your cigar, poured by the bartender, no cooler of your own required. The whiskey shelf and the cocktail menu are both built to pair.

And you do not need to be a member to come in. The lounge is open to every 21-and-up guest during regular bar hours. Membership is a separate thing: a private locker for your own bottles and cigars, and hours past close. The walk-in night needs none of it.

The indoor room.

21-and-up lounge

The cigar room is a 21-and-up lounge at the back of the bar, with the walk-in humidor, leather chairs, and ID checks at the door. Guests can light a cigar inside that room during regular bar hours. If you are used to smoke-free restaurants or general bars, ask at the bar and the staff will point you where the cigar lounge begins.

The longer background, plus how to choose and light a first cigar and the etiquette of a shared room, is in the field guide: Where to smoke a cigar in Bryan, Texas.

What to drink with it.

Pairings, by weight

The pairings run by weight. A lighter cigar wants a lighter pour. With a Connecticut, the house bourbon Old Fashioned, $14, or a Highland single malt. With a Habano, bourbon proper or a younger rye. With a Maduro, a peated Scotch like Lagavulin or Laphroaig, or a Negroni on the cocktail side, where the bitterness sits behind the wrapper without competing. None of it is a rule. Tell the bartender what you are smoking and let the bar pour from there.
